Happy Birthday Lydia (Part 2)

Yep, we are still behind, but gradually making progress to get you caught up to date. Maybe someday when my kids are older and don't require so much attention I'll be able to keep up a blog .

We celebrated Lydia's birthday with Grandma Dawn and Grandpa Charlie with a lunch at Texas Roadhouse. Lydia soaked up a bunch of quality grandma time.
Don't think Ella isn't going to miss a chance to get on the seat.
Yummy! Dessert! And no, she didn't really share much.

Happy Birthday Lydia!

Happy Birthday Lydia (Part 1)

Lydia turned four after months of anticipating the awaited day. She has been so eager to celebrate her 4th birthday that we made her a paper chain for her to count down the days (way back in December).

Her first birthday party was with her friends. She decided that she wanted Hello Kitty and Paul pressured me into making her cake. (Because it wasn't enough that he was out of town... again and I had to host a group of preschoolers).

A few fun facts about Lydia these days!

  • Her favorite thing to do is dance. She wakes up every morning and asks if she can go to dance class.
  • Her best friends are Katelyn and Mai (from swim) and Breanna, Stephanie and Cassie.
  • Her favorite colors are purple and pink
  • Lydia adores her sisters. She looks up to Grace and likes to do what Grace is doing. She also dotes on Ella all the time.
  • She loves writing her name.
  • When she grows up, Lydia is going to be a ballerina.
  • At home Lydia is determined and strong willed, at other places Lydia is shy and super sweet.
  • We couldn't imagine our family without Lydia!!

Valentine's Day

How do we celebrate Valentine's Day in our family? I used to envision romantic date nights, flowers and chocolates. Instead I get Valentines dances with three (maybe four if you count Paul) of the cutest dates complete with dancing, crafts and snacks.

Don't think that my entire Valentine's Day was a bust though. My super sweet husband did have flowers delivered since he was out of town for the week.

56 Years

56 Years!! 6 kids, 15 grandkids, and 4 great-grandchildren. My grandma and grandpa are one of those amazing couples that marriage look easy.

Congratulations to a inspirational couple!

Happy Birthday Paul!!

Happy, happy birthday to the best husband and daddy ever!!

We didn't have enough candles for the cake, but we used everyone that we had. Phew! That's a lot of candles.

Grace was generous enough to share her birthday crown with Paul. She only shares the birthday crown on birthdays, the rest of the year she keeps the coveted crown high in her bedroom, out of her sisters' reach.
Lydia seized the opportunity to be a princess since Paul was wearing a crown. (As if she needs another reason to dress up and don a tiara).

Happy 34th Birthday Love!

Badger Girls

Paul and I took the girls to their first Badger girls hockey game in January. We certainly had our doubts about the three of them sitting through an entire hockey game (or even 30 minutes of one). But, they all did great and made it through most of the game. They were not thrilled about the lack of cheerleaders, but loved Bucky.

Painting Picassa

Most people wear smocks to paint to ensure that their beautiful clothing doesn't get stained. Not Ella; she likes to be fancy.

In my defense, I don't always let the girls wear any clothes to paint or get crafty, but this paint would only show up on special paper. One less fight to have with my fanciest girls makes a happy mommy!

January Zoo Day

This has certainly been the warmest winter that I can remember. By mid-march we've already packed up the snowpants, winter boots and jackets. Out came flip flops, sundresses, scooters and bikes.

But, back in January we enjoyed a balmy January afternoon with some of our playgroup friends.
